Roger Federer Wins Australian Open 2010 Tennis Championships

Posted on February 3, 2010 by Daniel

Roger Federer has done it again! Winning his 16th Grand Slam title and fourth Australian Open, by defeating Andy Murray 6-3, 6-4, 7-6  in the men’s final.  The 15,000 crowd packed into the Rod Laver stadium in Melbourne Park to watch a tense, yet entertaining final.  Hopes were high for the Scot, to win his first Grand Slam and be the first British male to win a Grand Slam singles title in 74 years.  But alas, it was not to be for Murray, as the clinical and true professional, Roger Federer, brushed aside Murray in the first two sets and then battled out the third to take the trophy – Well done Roger!

Can Roger Federer go onto win the Grand Slam this year?  He has already proved himself as a true champion by winning so many Grand Slam titles, but the big question is… can he achieve the one thing that has eluded him thus far – The Grand Slam – Winning all four major tennis tournaments.

Even becoming a father to twins has not seemed to cause an upset to his tennis preparations.  Federer still seems to have plenty of speed around the court and stamina, despite his age – so he could easily add to his tally of trophies.  Watching a post tournament interview of him alongside the Yarra river in Melbourne, he looks as relaxed as ever.  But more importantly he has a very sensible strategy to preserve his body, listen to the niggles and stay injury free, so that he can keep playing in the big tournaments.

What impresses me the most about Roger Federer, is his humbleness, he is not only a true master of the game of tennis, but also an incredible ambassador for the sport.

Federer always looks so calm and relaxed, a really nice down-to-earth, likeable kind of guy. Not every tennis star has been like this.

  2. Kivi Says:

    Dull.
That’s the word that would suit Federer the best.
