Dragon Age: Origins

BioWare has repeatedly revolutionized the console video game RPG world with their elaborately designed and executed titles like Baldur’s Gate and Mass Effect. Gamers know that when they get a BioWare title in their hands, they will enter and be absorbed by a whole new world beyond their wildest imaginings. BioWare has done it again with their latest title, Dragon Age: Origins.

Dragon Age: Origins
Like its prior titles, Dragon Age instantly thrusts you into a beautifully rendered, extremely complex world. It begins with Duncan of Ferelden, who is attempting to grow his band of Grey Wardens in order to fight the upcoming Blight and the Archdemon who is behind it.

One of the great features of a good RPG is many-branching story options, and Dragon Age jumps right into this, giving you as many as six ways just to begin the story, and many more branching options from there. This not only keeps the game fresh on first playing, it allows you to play it over and over again, and you will.

Playing Dragon Age: Origins
You can start out as one of three different character races: Human, elf or dwarf, and you even choose your character’s social background and profession. The combination you choose will determine how your story begins and how other characters interact with you, not to mention what kind of skills and abilities you have and can develop.

Combat can be somewhat complex, but you can change the difficulty setting at any time and present several actions for your party. As with most RPG combat systems, once you grow accustomed to it, it gets much easier. The graphics, of course, are wonderfully rendered and cinematic, so that you feel like you are participating in a fantasy movie as you go through the story, which is involved enough to keep you occupied for hours.

Owning Dragon Age: Origins

If you’re looking for the next big must-have RPG game for consoles and PCs, you’ve definitely found it in Dragon Age: Origins. If you’re a gamer, you must have this game, and if not, you must get it for the gamer in your family as soon as possible.
