Its Twilight time!!!! SayWhatNews goes one on one with Sarah Clarke. The actress opened up about her thoughts on Bella and Renee’s relationship and more:
SayWhatNews: Sarah, you know I have to ask about “Twilight”. You play Renee Dwyer, Bella Swan’s mother. Had you read the books before you got the role? And how did you learn about the role of Bella’s mom?
Sarah: I read Twilight because Catherine Hardwicke asked me to. I loved the first book but have to admit that I was under-whelmed about the character of Renee. It was Catherine who convinced me that there was more to her. She grew on me as the movies went on, but I still find her lack of presence in Bella’s life very annoying.
SayWhatNews: Speaking of Renee’s lack of presence in Bella’s life…… Bella’s mom really has no major part in her life when she moves to Forks except for emails and a few phone calls. As a mother, what are your thoughts on Bella and Renee’s distant and some what hands off mother/daughter relationship?
Sarah: Yeah it’s weird…being a mother of two girls myself I found it very frustrating…I finally had to make peace with it and decided that Renee was a different mother than myself. I also have to remember that Bella was 17..and not 3..so by then there is a lot more independence.
SayWhatNews: In ‘Twilight Saga: Eclipse’, we finally get a look at the bond Bella and her mother have when the two share a very special moment on the patio when Renee gives Bella a gift during her visit. Do you feel this was a key moment for the two characters?
Sarah: Absolutely…I think the key to understanding their bond is that there is a mutual respect of personal and emotional space. Renee really does see Bella as an adult and an equal to her…that’s why she doesn’t crowd her. Read entire interview here

What do you make of the new Tiger Woods Nike ad?

The return of Tiger Woods to golf at the US Masters must have attracted media attention and boosted the number of television viewers watching golf. But what does the latest Tiger Woods Nike advertisement do for either the Nike brand or the Tiger Woods brand?  Well you could say that the Tiger Woods brand was already sullied, thats why the Nike ad needed the “clean” fatherly image and advice of Tiger’s father as the voice.  And, Nike, well they probably don’t care, the more controversy the better. As long as they get attention.

Is this what we have to get used to watching Tiger  staring back at us, whilst various family members do his endorsements for him?  Using his deceased father’s voice is going a bit far!

Just come out in the open, face up to your past, show you’re only human and talk Tiger.  Don’t just stare at us looking solemn and sullen.  People will forgive you and you will still be idolised, just be brave enough to face up to the public.

The House M.D. television series has enjoyed great success and now has a huge following around the world.  A lot of the success of House is thanks to Hugh Laurie’s performance as the cantankerous Dr Gregory House.  Some House bloopers to entertain you…

The complex Dr House character is an enigma, although he seems to almost despise the people around him, use unconventional and unorthodox methods to diagnose and treat patients, at the same time he is a doctor and cares for the well being of people.  Or is it the mystery of finding out the disease that drives him? A comparison to Sherlock Holmes is used often in the script of House.

The fascination with the House character is what attracts so many viewers and fans.  You can even join the House fan page on Facebook… His lack of social etiquette and mostly disheveled look is the antithesis of the stereotypical doctor.  Hugh Laurie is brilliantly cast as Dr House, he has mastered the American accent well and managed to hide his British background.

David Beckham suffered an Achilles tendon injury on Sunday during his game for AC Milan. Beckham is most likely to now miss the 2010 Soccer World Cup in South Africa, due to his injury.

Beckham will fly to Finland today, where medical experts will determine the extent of the injury.  Whilst a complete rupture of an Achilles tendon can take several months to heal, a smaller tear in the tendon may heal quicker. If the tendon is completely ruptured then both ends of the tendon will have to be sewn back together.  Lets hope for England football fan’s sakes that he will heal quickly.

Doctors are not confident that Beckham will be fit in time for the Soccer World Cup. Ellie Steele, a sports therapist, was quoted on BBC,  “It’s such a serious injury, he’d have been better off to have broken a bone”.  Sports specialists are saying that David Beckham may even be out for the rest of the year, as it will not be before June before he can get full use of his leg back and start training again. The risk of re-rupturing the tendon will always be there.

Having been kept on the bench for many of his games this year, it was not certain that Beckham would have made the final England team.  Although his accurate free-kicks could have served England well, if goals were required!

Now it remains to be seen if Beckham can continue with his career at Galaxy for Major League Soccer, as he nears the end of his playing career.  He is a determined professional soccer player, so I am sure that once he has undergone surgery and healed, that he will be back playing.

This would be Beckham’s fourth Soccer World Cup, if he plays.

Manchester United FC beat AC Milan 4-0 last night to go through to the quarter-finals of the UEFA Champions League. Wayne Rooney was sensational, scoring the first two goals in the 13th and 46th minute.

It was an emotional night at Old Trafford as the crowd welcomed back their hero David Beckham even though he plays for AC Milan and only came onto the pitch in the 62nd minute.  Beckham had an impossible task of trying to get AC Milan back into the game.  After the game Beckham praised Rooney’s efforts, saying he is one of the best players in the world at the moment.

Beckham caused some controversy when after the game, he picked up a green and gold scarf and wore it.  The green and gold colours represent the colours of the old Man U football club (Newton Heath it was called before the football club became Man United) and a campaign against the Glazer family who own Man United FC. Thousands of green and gold scarves were worn by fans and anti-Glazer chants could be heard in the stands.

I’m sure that Avram Glazer, who was watching the game from the director’s box, wouldn’t have liked to see David Beckham supporting the campaign against his family. There have been a number of anti-Glazer protests by Man U fans.  A wealthy group of individuals called the “Red Knights” are rumoured to be mounting a takeover bid.

Robin McLaurim Williams born in Chicago 1951, American actor and comedian. His rise to fame was as an alien called Mork, in the TV series, “Mork and Mindy”.  Mork was from planet Ork and used to greet people with his greeting, “Na-nu… Na-nu” and then when things went wrong, “Shazbot” was his swear word…

Robin Williams went on to act in many films, winning an Oscar for Best Supporting Actor in ‘Good Will Hunting’ , three Golden Globe awards and 3 Grammy awards.

Three of his best movies stand out for me – Dead Poets Society, Good Morning Vietnam and Mrs Doubtfire.  He is also known for his stand up comedy, this skit on golf, really cracks me up…

Many people dont realise that Robin Williams is also an avid gamer, playing role playing games and online video games.  He even named his daughter after Princess Zelda, from the video game ‘The Legend of Zelda’!

Tiger Woods came out of hiding last Friday and apologised for his infidelity.  There is no doubt that he has had to endure a lot of personal hardship and adjustment in the past few months.  However, the public is still critical over whether the apology is genuine or another publicity stunt. The pressure of the public and media scrutiny on his private life must have been immense.

Maybe Tiger Woods  should just wait until it all dies down and people ask, “Tiger who?”…

Reading the comments that have come through, there is no denying that what Tiger did was wrong, but perhaps he should have faced up to his indiscretions, apologised publicly a lot earlier and just got on with his life.  Yes, he is a celebrity, a role model, a public figure… but the majority of the public dont really care or they just want to see him play golf and it doesn’t matter what he does in his private life.  Some may even see him as a hero for what he did.

Its a bit sad that one person’s affairs can be dragged out in the open for public scrutiny and judged by the public.  But maybe an example has to be made of this episode so that others can learn from it.

The skeptics out there are saying that his apology was timed just before the start of the World Matchplay Golf Championships sponsored by Accenture.  Perhaps it was also to get media attention towards Tiger’s comeback before the Masters.  Who knows?  Maybe the best thing is for Tiger to finish his sex therapy and get back onto the golf course as quickly as possible.

In November of 2009, a long-standing chapter in basketball history quietly closed, as Abe Pollin, the owner of the Washington Wizards, died at the age of 85. Although his team has only been known as the Wizards for a little more than ten years, Pollin’s basketball legacy goes back decades.

Pollin purchased the Baltimore Bullets way back in 1964. In 1973, he constructed a new arena, the Capital Centre, in the nearby Washington, D.C. suburbs, where he also placed his newly purchased hockey team, the Washington Capitals. In 1978, the Bullets won a championship, and Pollin vowed never to sell the team until they won another, a dream he was sadly not able to see realized. In 1997, Pollin moved to the Verizon Center in downtown Washington as part of an initiative to revitalize the area, and Pollin changed the name of his team to the Wizards, in order to avoid the negative connotations associated with bullets in an area plagued by crime. When the WNBA came to pass, Pollin added his own team, the Washington Mystics, to his sports empire. Pollin had the longest ownership length of any NBA team.

Pollin suffered from a rare brain disease known as supranuclear palsy, which affects movement and balance. In 2005, he had bypass surgery and in 2007 needed to be treated for a broken pelvis. Pollin required a wheelchair or motorized cart to get around and see his team. Pollin had already sold the Washington Capitals and Mystics to a group led by AOL executive Ted Leonsis, who will now add the Wizards and reunite Pollin’s Washington Sports and Entertainment empire.

In addition to revitalizing downtown Washington, D.C. and winning that NBA Championship in 1978, Pollin is credited with bringing Michael Jordan out of retirement, first as President of Basketball Operations and then as a player, with paying for his stadium with his own money rather than demanding taxpayer subsidies and with being a popular community leader who devoted a great amount of time and money to various charities and causes, especially in the D.C. area.

Sometimes it may seem like the children of celebrities have it all. They are born into fame and fortune, and have complete access to individuals that most people only dream of ever being around. However, being the child of a celebrity is not always all it’s cracked up to be. There can be intense pressure with people expecting you to live up to the success of your famous parents, not to mention the stress of growing up for your entire life under public scrutiny.Alexa Ray Joel
One person who may have succumbed to some of this pressure is Alexa Ray Joel, the 23 year old daughter of singing legend Billy Joel and supermodel Christie Brinkley. With not one but two world famous parents, the pressure cooker that Alexa Ray grew up in was no doubt hot, and recently, it appears to have been too much.

On December 5th, Alexa Ray, who has followed in her father’s footsteps and adopted a singing career, was rushed from her New York City home to St. Vincent’s Hospital in response to a 911 call. According to parents Joel and Brinkley, Alexa Ray is stable and doing fine.

Alexa Ray has posted the following message on her website, AlexaRayJoel.com: “I want to thank everyone for their love and support.” Also on the site, Claire Mercuri, a spokesperson for Joel, says: “Alexa is feeling much better. She is with her family and looking forward to getting back on track.”

As is natural in these cases, there is much speculation on the cause of Alexa Ray’s hospitalization. Some reports suggest that the singer had attempted suicide through an overdose of sleeping pills, due perhaps to being severely upset over relationship issues. Other speculation is that Alexa Ray was experimenting with a homeopathic medicine and was afraid that she had misdosed herself.
