Movie watchers who have been dying for a fix of action may enjoy the new crime thriller “Armored”, directed by Nimrod Antal, who also directed 2007 thriller “Vacancy.” Armored follows an armored truck guard named Ty Hackett, who, in need of money, gets involved in a plot to steal the very truck he is hired to protect.
Plot of Armored
Ty, played by Columbus Short, is a war hero who is responsible for taking care of his younger brother after his parents’ death. He and his partners Mike (played by Matt Dillon) and Baines (Lawrence Fishburne), are taking money back from a bank when it seems like the truck is about to be held up. It turns out that the “heist” is an elaborate prank played by Mike and Baines on the naïve Ty, and they have a good laugh at his expense.
When Ty’s mortgage comes due and he cannot pay, he asks for extra shifts from work, but there are none available. He talks with Mike, who lets him in on a plan to hijack a truck carrying $42 million. Ty is appalled, and runs away from Mike. However, when he gets home, he gets a visit from child protective services, he realizes he may lose his brother to foster care if he can’t come up with the money. Ty is torn between his moral convictions and his mission to protect his brother.
Ty shows up the next day and after getting Mike to agree that he won’t get caught or have to kill anyone, Ty says he is in. The rest of the movie deals with the plan to hijack the truck and its consequences.
